OUR STAFF
ALESSANDRO, MAGDA & ALESSIO.
We’re a small but passionate team from Levanto. Magda looks after you from behind the scenes, taking care of all the details so everything runs smoothly. Alessio is your friendly guide on board, always ready to welcome you with his big smile! Together with our experienced captain, we share a deep love for the sea and the Cinque Terre, and can’t wait to create unforgettable moments with you!

This is our story.

Our roots: growing up between Monterosso and Levanto
We grew up between Monterosso al Mare and Levanto, two places deeply tied to the sea. Before the Cinque Terre became a world-famous destination, they were simply home.
The sea was not a backdrop, but part of everyday life: learning to read the wind, respecting the storms, going out on the boat with the older fishermen, listening to stories at the harbour.

Our bond with Ligurian tradition
The Cinque Terre have a maritime and agricultural history. Our relationship with this land is rooted here: in the culture of fishing, the terraced vineyards and the respect for a fragile landscape.
That’s why we chose to sail on a traditional Ligurian gozzo — a boat that belongs to the history of this coastline. The gozzo is not just a vessel, but a symbol of continuity.

The story behind Ale 5 Terre Boat Tours
Over time, friends and travellers asked us to share our way of experiencing the sea. We didn’t want to create a simple tourist service.
We wanted to offer an experience that stayed true to our values:
- Slow sailing
- Small groups
- Authentic stories
- Respect for the Cinque Terre Marine Protected Area
- Collaboration with local businesses

Ale: more than a skipper
Ale is not just the person who sails the boat.
He is someone who grew up between the sea and the villages, who knows every stretch of coastline and every shift in the wind.
After more than 16 years on this sea — first as a guide, then with Angelo’s Boat Tours — Alessandro is starting over with a new name, but still with the same captain, the same passion, and his faithful companion Giulin, a traditional Ligurian “gozzo”.

Respect for the Marine Park
We operate within the Cinque Terre Marine Protected Area in full compliance with its regulations.
For us, this is not a technical detail, but a responsibility. We live in a fragile territory. Every choice — from the way we sail to reducing plastic, to the use of locally made artisan ceramics — comes from a desire to leave a positive impact.

Our vision of tourism

Frequently asked questions
Who is behind Ale 5 Terre Boat Tours?
Ale 5 Terre Boat Tours was born from the experience of people who grew up between Monterosso al Mare and Levanto, with a deep bond with the sea and the maritime tradition of the Cinque Terre. The goal is to share this land with those who visit, guiding guests along the coastline and sharing stories, traditions and curiosities rooted in local life.
Why did you choose to sail on a traditional Ligurian gozzo?
The Ligurian gozzo is a historic boat of the Ligurian coast and represents a way of experiencing the sea that belongs to local tradition. Sailing on a gozzo allows for a slower and more stable navigation along the rocky cliffs of the Cinque Terre and contributes to offering a more authentic experience that stays true to the land.
Is your work connected to the protection of the territory?
Yes, we operate in full compliance with the regulations of the Cinque Terre Marine Protected Area and strive to promote a more mindful form of tourism. For us, the sea is not just a backdrop to visit, but an environment to understand and protect.
