CinqueTerre

An authentic guide to discovering the territory

The Cinque Terre are not just a place to visit, but a territory to truly understand.

Those who come here are often looking for things to do, places to see and the best way to make the most of their time across the five villages: Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore.

Having lived between the sea and these villages all our lives, we want to share a simple and authentic guide to truly discovering this corner of Liguria.

Visiting the five villages of the Cinque Terre

Monterosso al Mare

The most accessible and beach-friendly

Vernazza

One of the most breathtaking natural harbours

Corniglia

The only village not directly on the sea

Manarola

Famous for its colourful houses

Riomaggiore

A strong maritime identity

Exploring the villages on foot is a unique experience, but it can become challenging during peak season.

Discovering the Cinque Terre from the sea

One of the most authentic ways to experience the Cinque Terre is to observe them from the water. From the sea you can better appreciate:

  • The dramatic height of the cliffs
  • The original isolation of the villages
  • The bond between fishing, the sea and the land

A Cinque Terre boat tour allows you to:

✓ Avoid the crowds on the trails
✓ Reach secluded coves only accessible by sea
✓ Snorkel in the waters of the Marine Park
✓ Take in the villages from a more intimate perspective

Our excursions depart from Monterosso al Mare and take place in full compliance with the Cinque Terre Marine Protected Area regulations.

Snorkeling in the Cinque Terre Marine Park

The waters of the Cinque Terre are part of a marine protected area. Snorkeling is possible in certain zones, in compliance with the regulations. The seabed offers:

  • Rocks and natural formations
  • Small marine wildlife
  • Crystal-clear waters during the best seasons

All our tours include swimming stops where we provide masks and snorkels so you can explore the marine seabed.

Savouring Ligurian cuisine

Among the things to do in the Cinque Terre, discovering the local flavours is an absolute must:

Monterosso anchovies

A wonderfully fresh local speciality

Ligurian pesto

Basil, pine nuts, parmesan and olive oil

Focaccia

Simple but perfect

Sciacchetrà

The Sweet Wine of the Cinque Terre

The cuisine is part of the tradition and tells the story of the bond between land and sea.

Visiting Levanto and the surrounding area

Many visitors choose to stay in Levanto, just outside the Cinque Terre National Park.

Levanto is:

  • Quieter and less crowded
  • Well connected by train
  • An excellent base for day trips

From here it is easy to reach Monterosso or set off on private tours.

When to visit the Cinque Terre

Spring and early autumn are the most balanced times to visit. In summer the crowds are at their peak, especially on the trails and in the historic centres.

The sea remains one of the most enjoyable ways to explore the coastline even during the busiest months.

Spring

Mild weather, fewer crowds

Summer

Perfect sea, more tourists

Autumn

Harvest season, tranquillity

Winter

Authentic, few tourists
